The homeowner wanted to reclaim an upper portion of the backyard that had previously been unusable due to heavy tree and brush coverage, steep grade conditions, and limited safe access. The goal was to transform the space into a functional, family-friendly outdoor area where children could play safely, with the main focal point being a custom embankment slide connecting the upper and lower yard.

Landscape Solutions began by removing trees and overgrown brush from the upper level of the property. Extensive grading was then completed to reshape the area and create a more usable lawn space. Once the upper yard was regraded, topsoil, seed, and straw were installed to establish healthy turf and provide the family with a clean, open area for everyday use.

A retaining wall was installed along the rear portion of the upper yard to manage the elevation change and help define the newly graded space. The project also included a playset area finished with certified playground mulch, creating a safer and more comfortable surface for children.

One of the standout features of this project was the installation of an embankment slide between the upper and lower yard areas. To enhance and stabilize the slope, Landscape Solutions installed new landscape plantings along with a natural river boulder border. The river boulders helped define the bed lines, create a clean transition between the lawn and slope, and add a natural finished look to the hillside.

Natural stone steps were installed along the side of the embankment near the slide, allowing the family to move safely and easily between the lower yard and the newly created upper play area. Additional plantings were installed throughout the sloped areas to provide seasonal color, improve visual appeal, and support long-term slope stabilization.

The project also included Vego Raised Garden Beds in terracotta, installed near the upper portion of the property above the driveway. A split rail fence was added around the garden area to define the space and help protect the planting beds.
